Karygiannis on Help
to Victims in Pakistan
As the Member of Parliament for Scarborough-Agincourt, Honourable Jim Karygiannis has actively served the community for seven consecutive terms. Over the years he has taken up the various causes that affect Canadians, in general, and his constituents, in particular. Call for humanitarian aid protocol to help victims in Pakistan On May 29, 2009, Jim Karygiannis condemned the lack of action by the Harper government in providing aid and humanitarian assistance to the victims of the ongoing fighting in Pakistan. “Many of my constituents have family in the affected region. They are worried sick and are calling me asking for help” said Mr. Karygiannis. “The Harper government has done next door to nothing to help these victims.” Karygiannis
called on the Harper government to institute the following
measures to help those who are suffering as a result of the
fighting in the Swat Valley:
“I have called, time and again, for the Harper government to establish a set of protocols to deal with international crises. The blueprint is there; it was established by the Liberal government after the Tsunami and used in the aftermath of the earthquake in Muzzafrabad.” Mr. Karygiannis stated. “Canadians want to know that their government will render assistance to others in their time of need. A set of protocols will allow all Canadians to know what their government is doing and what they can do to help.” Helps GlobalMedic assist war-torn Pakistan Earlier
on May 15, Karygiannis helped GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response
