Toronto Cricket
Festival 2008
Toronto City Cricket Club (formerly known as Toronto City Hall Cricket Club) has announced that the 4th Toronto Cricket Festival is being held on July 12 - 13 at Centennial Park in Toronto. Mr Terry Denison, who has been involved with Toronto City Cricket Club (TCCC) for past many years is the President of the Club. He takes over from Mr Tim Woods, who passed away in 2007. Terry is senior lawyer with City of Toronto. TCCC, currently a non-profit organisation, which has been in existence for the last 15 years, has been involved in promoting cricket among the GTA's various communities and youth. His Worship Toronto Mayor David Miller, Police Chief William Blair, Hon. Navdeep Bains M.P., Dr Ruby Dhalla M.P., Dr Qureshi M.P.P, Dr Kular M.P.P., Councilor Adam Vaughan amongst others have been invited to attend on July 13, the final day of the annual event. Eight teams will be competing for Mayor's Cup, St. George's Society Cup and Mayor and Police Chief Trophy. Around five hundred guests and players from various communities are expected t attend the festival. Tim Horton, Excel Funds, ATN, Paradigm Images, Globalom Media are amongst the sponsors of the Festival. Asian Community Games, during the same weekend, is organising tournaments for Badminton, Basketball, Soccer, Table Tennis, Track and Field and Volley Ball at Centennial Park.
