Foundation presents cheque to
Dr. Asha Seth, Chairman and founder of the North Indian Medical and Dental Association of Canada (NIMDAC) Foundation, along with other committee members Dr Ranjit Rana and Dr. Vijay Sharma, presented a cheque to the Heart and Stroke Foundation on December 3 at the headquarters in Toronto.
The occasion was presided over by the CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Mr. David Sculthorpe, who applauded the efforts of the NIMDAC Foundation in donating the generous amount of $50,000. He was extremely happy to note the work of the foundation in creating awareness and educating the community about the causes and prevention of heart disease especially since the incidence amongst South Asians is so high in Canada.
Mr Sculthorpe welcomed the donation and hoped the partnership between the two foundations would be long-term.
The funds were raised at a gala event held at the end of September 2009. The NIMDAC Foundation consists primarily of doctors of Indian origin in Ontario who are giving back to their adopted country in medical, dental and health related fields.
NIMDAC Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable foundation started only in 2008 and its very first fundraiser last year donated $100,000 to the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons.
